Not an Asian Dub Foundation cover. Obviously…

Zach Lyon: So we really do live in a post-“Holdin’ You Down” world, then? I guess we could do worse.

David Moore: A solid party-rap pastiche — modified old-school Chic bassline, freestyle Casio hook, some brassy 80s synth, a nod to G-funk. It’s inter-generational — relatively clean, even! — a party for everyone but no one in particular. Well, it’s not for Fiddy, who wheezes through his verse like a dying ox, but lightweight smart-ass Mann is right for the M.C. role.

Martin Skidmore: Bouncy, poppy rap, rather old-fashioned in style — the JR Rotem production is bright and perky and very enjoyable. 50 Cent seems rather out of place, with his gangsta drawl. Mann himself is okay, though his singing of the hook is very dull — otherwise he suits this well, and the chorus is catchy.

Alfred Soto: I may be the only person born in 1974 with no fond memories of Nu Shooz’s “I Can’t Wait” (I prefer Stevie Nicks’ own walloping “I Can’t Wait” from the same season). But I’ve wondered a few times over the years why no enterprising hip-hop deejay didn’t sample it. Mann is the least interesting element in this tubthumper, though, while Fiddy is as incongruous as a fart in formal dress.

John Seroff: Rotem is just straight up ripping people off now, huh? I can certainly see “Buzzin’” getting popular but there’s hardly any reason to listen when “I Can’t Wait” is only a Google search away. 50’s verse is surprisingly solid; Mann’s not so much so (NB: bees chase honey, not vice versa) but neither work hard enough to justify this thing’s existence.

Jer Fairall: Sampling “I Can’t Wait” turns out to be a surprisingly good idea. Setting a de facto cover of “Here Comes The Hotstepper” to it, less so.
