Latin Grammy Week 2015

Latin pop in all its variety is a rich musical world that’s right on many of our readers’ — and writers’ — doorsteps, and one that we still think is under-covered in English-language pop criticism. Some of it is brilliant, as we’ve learned in previous years, but it’s not always easy to know where to start on a quick dive in. For newcomers or dabblers in the world of Latin pop, where better to start than its own best newcomers?

That’s why, once again, the Singles Jukebox will be looking at the ten artists nominated for this year’s Mejor Nuevo Artista (Best New Artist) award at this year’s Latin Grammys. For three days this week, our writers will survey 2015’s nominees, from Cuba to Colombia, Uruguay to Ecuador. We hope you enjoy our coverage, and maybe find some new favourites — or a new take on some sounds with which you might already be familiar.
