Something something “Madeon Goes to Jail”…

Alfred Soto: Arena rock Daft Punk the world doesn’t need.

Anthony Easton: I like when the orchestral ambition meets 8-bit bleeps and bloops. Add a pleasure-for-pleasure’s-sake chorus about the glory of summer, and I’m dancing along.

Will Adams: Impeccable timing. Just as I fear that Madeon is drifting towards the pitfalls of selfsame rehashing like some of his contemporaries (ahem), he makes a slight left into some newer territory. His usual neon presets are still there, but the slowed tempo and husky vocals from the Walk the Moon guy add some grit I wouldn’t have expected. The end result is sounding exactly like Pendulum. Not that that’s a bad thing.

Iain Mew: Madeon gets in on some of that Nero J-Pop/arcade machine action, complete with a bit that sounds even more like Pendulum (RIP) than Nero did. If only he had got in a vocalist capable of sounding like he/she was having a breathless good time to match the synth swizzles, this could have been fantastic.

Josh Langhoff: Was this in the running for Official Song of the 2012 Olympics? ™? Either way, it deserves to soundtrack one of those inspirational “meet the athlete” TV segments, preferably for someone who’s overcome odds, suffered heartbreaking defeat, and now chases honor and vindication through the fight/race/beachvolleyballgame of his/her life.

Patrick St. Michel: Kid kept telling me to “brace myself,” but the worst he does is give me some swelling Skittles-bright electronics to sit back to. I’m okay with this.
[5]
Brad Shoup: Sounds a bit like “Princess of China,” but Coldplay would never hang the loss of youth over your head.

Colin Small: What am I bracing myself for again?
