Thomas Inskeep: Trashy — not a compliment in this case — lazy, overly repetitive electro-pop like I’d expect from a would-be pop starlet like Paris Hilton.

Micha Cavaseno: A heck of a lot of cheek over a backing that sounds like someone really fondly remembers Ric Ocasek.

Alfred Soto: The syncopation is the star — that synth and obnoxious drum. But I don’t underestimate Momo Wu, whose performance in a middle eight out-slithers the competition. Her lips? Nah. Her charisma.

Iain Mew: Girls Aloud already showed the merit of shining this riff up for pop, and “My Lips” uses a further evolved version, tied up with a big drum roll and never settling where you expect it to. Momo just about gets away with a song which adds little to it but laughing, thanks to the strength of both the riff and her laugh.

Patrick St. Michel: It’s a solid hook, but “My Lips” seems a bit too content to just repeat it. Extra point, though, for that beat, which rightfully gets the bridge to itself.

Jonathan Bogart: Slamming floor toms like an NME favorite between 2002 and 2006, with vocal attitude right out of the bratty teenpop of the same period, and decorative new-wave guitar from both. I’ve never been so thrilled by a C-pop song before, and while I’m perfectly willing to believe that’s due more to my relative lack of exposure than to the largest country in the world lagging behind in the popstar department, I for one welcome our new etc.
