It might not be the money…

Megan Harrington: This is the tropical house version of blowing all your vacation time on the first two weeks of January.

William John: Somehow Cash Cash and Digital Farm Animals wrangle life from now very overripe trop-house tropes; despite unabashedly garish elements, namely a children’s choir and Nelly interpolating himself, there’s a thrilling giddiness to the duck-footed horns and enormous bass thuds.

Katherine St Asaph: The group of dance-music bros that aren’t the Chainsmokers have seen better days. Their album’s called Blood, Sweat, and 3 Years, but judging by the guests, it’s been sitting around for way longer than that: Neon Hitch! B.o.B! Dev! I can’t even pretend to be excited anymore! The single evokes the past in a different way — namely, by betting the kids have enough nostalgia for “Ride Wit Me” to endure several minutes of its hook set to dopey-happy dance. They probably do! Then again, based on “Millionaire”‘s failure to smash, they’ve also got discernment. (Then again, based on “Closer” remaining No. 1, maybe they don’t.)

Will Adams: No matter how much it bounces, “Millionaire” doesn’t offer much besides Nelly exhuming “Ride Wit me” for a retread of Sigala’s similarly forced cheer.
[4]
Alfred Soto: They may feel like millionaires, but the production and use of “Ride Wit Me” sounds like a buck fifty.

Thomas Inskeep: Nelly was never exactly my favorite rapper, but it’s still sad to see him reduced to popping up on this month’s EDM pop-chart novelty. And it befuddles me why a song this simplistic and stupid requires two “artists” to make it, plus Nelly. If you’re looking for the lowest common denominator in music, this is it.
