Thomas Inskeep: Gorgeous, chilled R&B, centered around acoustic guitar and a couple of superb singers, almost akin to an indie version of Babyface’s “When Can I See You” — and who could’ve seen that almost-25-year-old single would become the influence it has on modern R&B? This is quiet, almost meditative, and much needed.

Nortey Dowuona: Gentle, strumming guitar descends from the clouds as HER and Daniel follow, both snowy, sinewy coos twirling together and spreading into the sky, the ocean and the trees until all united an interlocked, connected at each seam.

Will Adams: Muted guitar plucks, polite snaps, and the kind of feel-good vibes so antiseptic I find myself finishing the refrain of “the best part” with “…of waking up is Folger’s in your cup.”

Ryo Miyauchi: The middle-school love-poem metaphors are supposed to add personality, I assume, but it messes with the sincere mood set in this otherwise pleasantly blissful tribute. The cheesiness is not overwrought. Rather, it’s a little shallow in imagination. Their world could be much bigger while inspired by a sight that inspires a feeling larger than life.

Iain Mew: While it’s H.E.R. singing at the beginning, the languid bliss is enough for all the coffee and sunrise stuff to work. Once the song moves on, gets bogged down and loses its grace without gaining much in the way progression, it’s like remembering that it might be a weekend morning but you still have a bunch of chores you need to do.

Stephen Eisermann: Romantic and dreamy, if a bit slow. Truly, it’s the sincerity with which Daniel compares his love to Tylenol when he has a headache that sells this song, because who hasn’t heard some well-meaning straight dude make a weird comparison like this one?
