Will Adams: Guetta’s become a comfortable constant in pop, in that whatever sound is hot, you know he’ll do his best to recreate it at least six months later. So, following his re-varnish of “Versace On the Floor,” we get more 8-bit sunset house of the Funk Wav Bounces variety. At least this time around it’s a decent effort, and even with Sia at her most unsubtle — “You can do this!” — the inoffensive bump is tolerable.

Katherine St Asaph: I prefer David Guetta ripping off other people to other people ripping off David Guetta, particularly when the object of ripping-off is slick post-“Love Me Harder” synthfunk. And Sia, though her lyrics remain stubbornly Sia, sings more than quirks for once.

Crystal Leww: “Titanium” is obviously a high bar to be judged against from now until forever, but hey, y’all were the ones who set it. In all the ways that “Titanium” sounds urgent, immediate, and vulnerable, “Flames” sounds complacent, outdated, and false.

Ryo Miyauchi: Backed by an adrenaline-pumping EDM-disco chug, the “believe in yourself” lyrics are naked in their intentions to sync some Olympian commercial. And both artists involved sit way too high in the pop sphere to be writing vaguely inspirational stock tunes to what ad agencies want.

Stephen Eisermann: This is what the Goofy Movie soundtrack would sound like if the movie was released in 2018, and that’s not a bad thing; that chorus, though, never stops being jarring.
