Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: I can’t tell if this is the country version of one of those songs where Drake’s technically the feature but it just sounds like a Drake solo song or if there’s just so little stylistic variation within the field of bro-country that they all just sound like Florida Georgia Line already. Either way, it’s not worth your time.

Stephen Eisermann: Less offensive than most songs that Florida Georgia Line have a hand in, but just as mediocre. The “up, down”s make for an interesting hook, but the rest of the song is standard summer country fare, and the instrumentation is as run-of-the-mill as it comes; country music really needs a shot of variety, too, because the songs are just blending together at this point.

Ramzi Awn: Fit for a car ride downtown, “Up Down” delivers a classic guitar line with some good old-fashioned fun.

Hazel Southwell: I could regret fucking everyone involved with this song.

Will Adams: I find a perverse pleasure in the way the beer-soaked bro-country shamelessly crashes into the opening, Kool-Aid Man style. But the rest feels like a party that looked fun from the outside but is actually boring as hell.

Ashley John: “Up Down” sounds like lucking into a job you’re not totally qualified for but you said in the interview you totally know advanced Excel functions and are excited to work on a dynamic, diverse team!
