The Return of The Singles Podcast – Eurovision Special 2016

Hey, you’re asking, “Is the Podcast coming back?” Short answer: “YES, IT IS, BABY!” We’ll be back doing them every couple of weeks. For this edition, we make our second bash at the Eurovision Song Contest. The next edition we will talk about other things. Your hosts are Will Swygart, Edward Okulicz, Leonel Manzanares de la Rosa and Lauren Gilbert. We tried to talk about every entry this year, but we had some technical difficulties during Malta and Azerbaijan. This was edited on a flight from Beijing to Stockholm and since then the favourites are now Russia and Ukraine, but our opinions haven’t changed and our predictions are still probably wrong. Warning: it’s long.

  1. and an editing mistake had one of the San Marino comments end up with Macedonia. I’ll fix that when I’ve got time to re-encode!

  4. Eurovision live blog is just as much fun as the event itself :D SO HYPE

  5. I’m a bit late listening to this so maybe the info is unnecessary at this point (especially given that they were already eliminated) but since there was a bit of speculation about what type of building Bosnia’s video was shot in: it’s the Vije?nica in Sarajevo. Originally a city hall, later the national library, bombed & burned during the war, only recently restored. There was a famous photo of a guy playing cello inside its ruins, hence the cellist.

This is a long way of getting around to saying that maybe those fire exit signs in the video are actually deeply symbolic (no, they weren’t, but it makes me feel better to pretend that they were)
