The Singles Podcast – Eurovision Special
It’s Eurovision week! Not content with just live-blogging the semi-finals (Tuesday/Thursday nights) and final (Saturday night), we’re bringing you an irreverent preview of Europe’s premier night of song and cheese in podcast form. Warning: this is more than an hour long and features at least one song that is likely to give you nightmares. Your hosts are William B. Swygart, Abby Waysdorf and Edward Okulicz.

Uh-oh! Looks like a couple of my favorite entries weren’t played. Oh well, I’ll try to listen when I have a chance. This is the first year I’ve listened to all the entries (I first heard of Eurovision last year but only heard a few of the songs).
What were your favourites, Derek?
The two I was thinking of were Italy, which I think might be my favorite at the moment, and Iceland. Some of my other favorites are Ukraine, Hungary, and France. Although after seeing a few in the semi-final, I think I’ll have to slightly adjust some of my opinions based on the live performances.
I’ll admit it ended up a trifle longer than perhaps expected, even without Iceland and Italy. Italy, I’m sort of in two minds about, when it’s playing it’s nice and chuggy but it doesn’t stick. I like her voice a lot though, it’s very commanding.
I want in on this next year. I don’t care what time zone you need me in I’ll take a bunch of pills or whatever.
