Jonathan Bogart: Slight even by Royce’s usual featherweight standards, this song represents a sort of doubling-down on his trad bachata fanbase. As a fan of cross-genre cross-pollination, it’s a little disappointing; as a fan of straightforward romantic bachata, I have to acknowledge that he’s no King Romeo.

Alfred Soto: Nimble guitar work, ping-ponging percussion, Royce’s feather-light tenor — confections this sweet should be mass produced.

Patrick St. Michel: I’m permanently allergic to ballads, but this sort of easy-breezy reflection trumps big swooning melodrama. It helps that Prince Royce flows with the pre-noon guitar just right, and the chorus is content in rendering feelings in a relatable way rather than in one built for the Grammy stage.

Will Adams: There wasn’t much added to the initial blueprint of bass and voice counterpoint; it’s mostly uninteresting until a fog machine fires up and Prince Royce does some Weeknd cosplay in the middle eight.

Brad Shoup: The late-night calls, the drinking, the loss of control, his having the good shit: it’s bachata Weeknd.

Micha Cavaseno: Perhaps his full-steam attempt to break into the English-speaking market was ill-planned or a bit too cheesy in the song selection. But there’s no mistaking how easy and effortless he can pen a love ballad, no matter how samey they can get.
